Greetings Brethren,
We sure are living in troublesome times, as the end time events of this evil age begin to transpire, and the ushering in of the wonderful Kingdom of God approaches. I have been commenting for some time now how everything we see and hear in the news these days concerning fires, and floods, and storms, and other disasters, is spoken of as “Unprecedented” this, and “Apocalyptic” that.
But I was corrected today when one of the high ranking news commentators stated that: “words like Unprecedented or Anomaly or Extreme are Not appropriate anymore to describe the worsening conditions around this world.
Things are different now Brethren. We are beyond just the budding of the Fig tree; the leaves on the trees are now sprouting right before our very eyes. If there was ever a time to be “awake” to “watch” and to be “ready” for our Lord’s return, it is now.
(Luke 12:40.) Ready = Strong’s #2092 = adjusted, prepared.
(Matthew 24:42-43.) Watch = Strong’s #1127 = keep awake, be vigilant.
I’d like to start today’s report at the Orphanage. As you know the children have recently returned to school. The picture below was taken few days ago in their school uniforms. (The four boarding in High School are not pictured here.)
Sengera House girls now have new school shoes. |
On Sunday the boys painted the sitting room of their dormitory. |
They also painted the kitchen. |
The girls removed and washed all the pots, pans and cooking utensils that were hanging over the counter, and the boys painted the kitchen walls. It is so nice to see them working together in unity.
Isaac sitting on the job. Lol. |
Thomas, Kevin, and their five Siblings |
In the picture above, one sibling is missing; he’s not feeling well and is resting on the floor of their neighbor’s house. (That’s where they are currently sleeping.) Most will remember Thomas; he originally began attending services with us on Sabbath, back when Nehemiah was giving Bible Studies at the local elementary school. But you may recall that tragically struck one Sabbath morning on their way to services, the motorbike taxi crashed, and one boy was killed, and Thomas injured.
When we became acquainted with Thomas back then, he was struggling to care for his younger Siblings. One boy had already died from starvation. To ease the suffering, we suggested that Kevin (another church orphaned family headed by Kevin) move in together with Thomas. It was a big step in the right direction. (By the way, Kevin had also lost one of his younger siblings to starvation around the same time.) Now that they were living together, things were much better towards becoming self supportive. They decided to live at Thomas’s place, and do their farming at Kevin’s property.
All was working out well until last week when a powerful storm “literally” washed away their old mud house. Fortunately no one was killed, but two of the children were injured. We are now hoping to help them build a new mud house. We started a “GoFundMe” for that purpose.
We also want to thank you donors for the support you have given towards this year’s FOT. The Kenya Brethren send their heartfelt thanks, and wish all of you a uplifting and Spiritual Feast.
