Greetings, All is gong well here in Kenya, as usual been quite busy. Yesterday I visited the home of one of our young widows. Her husband died from pneumonia, and she is living in a small mud hut (pictured below) with her four children. She wasn’t home at the time I visited (she was out looking for some small job to make some money.) I found her oldest son (age 16) home. He was digging in the garden, weeding his maze and also planting. He invited me in the house for some tea. The tea was what Mom had made the family for breakfast. As I looked around the small hut I saw no food. Questioning the son I asked what the family ate for breakfast? Tea, he replied, just tea. I asked if they had any food at all? He showed me a hand full of sweet potatoes and said that was what mom has been making them for supper each night. I asked where are your siblings? In school He replied. I asked who paid the school fees? Mom, he replied. The little money this widow makes she is dividing it up between food & school fees. All of our Kenyan brethren feel it is so important for their children to attend school, that there willing to starve if necessary to keep them in school……. This is a typical story amongst many of our brethren here in this impoverished country. Anyway, thanks to those of you who are assisting, I was able to go to the market and purchase them 25K of Rice, flour, and cooking oil. Also giving them some additional vegetable seeds. |
 March was another blessed and fruitful Month in Kenya as we prepared for the upcoming Passover and Feast of Unleavened Bread. Thanks to you donors, we were able to supply numerous groups in both Kenya and Tanzania with Passover supplies. We also assisted widows in Kenuchi, Ogembo, Siaya, and Nyakachi with needed food, for their areas are in drought conditions and these widows have been suffering.
Currently am in Homa Bay (Nyanza Province) here to visit a group that has been requesting a visit for some time now. We met with them last evening, and they are very interested in Biblical Truth, will keep Sabbath with them tomorrow 4/1/17. Also have a few other groups waiting for a visit, will do so as we fit it into our schedule. We have also begun digging the well at the boarder group (near Tanzania) I was informed today that they have reached 20′ in depth so far. After they reach water and complete digging, we plan to go there with some of the boys from the orphanage to cement a cap on top to secure the well and make it safe. The schools in Kenya will close next week for one Month. We have numerous projects planed for the children during their break. Our goal at the orphanage is to teach all of the children trades, so they can eventually become self supporting. We have also installed Solar power at the girls house at Sengera. The house already has electric power from the power company, but it is not consistent. Often (every day) the power goes off sometimes for hours, and sometimes in the evening, making it difficult for the girls as they are preparing for bed. The cost to install the solar was quite reasonable, final cost totaling just over $200. We did the labor ourselves, as the boys learned more about the electrical trade.
