Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his Lord hath made ruler over his household, to give him meat in due season?  Blessed is that servant, whom his Lord when he cometh shall find so doing.  Verily I say unto you, that he shall make him ruler over all his goods.
(Matthew 24:45-47.)

Greetings Brethren,

It’s so wonderful to see all the good works that you donors have been accomplishing as you assist our impoverished Brethren, especially the widows and orphans.  I know our Lord is well please with all your good works, and that our Heavenly Father is being Glorified by them.

Twenty in all had painful Jiggers removed thanks to you Donors.

On Sunday January 24 Nehemiah and James traveled back to bring 20 pair of shoes (pictured above) for the children (and two adults) who had their Jiggers removed the previous week.  These children are overjoyed and so very thankful to you Donors for assisting them.  Almost every one of them are orphans.  Orphans are looked down on in that 3rd world country, and considered 100% worthless.  So I guess we can say that you donors have helped the “least” (in their eyes anyway) of our Lord’s Brethren.

Next, let me update you on Brian Wako.  After living at Sengera House for a while, and successfully learning the trade of carpentry, Brian is now living back with Matara the Mzee (Old Man).  He is earning funds making furniture and supporting the other four orphans there.  It’s thanks to you donors and the grace of God for them to have come this far.

Brian Wako

Our impoverished brethren living in these 3rd world countries really suffer.  Remember Thomas, the 16-year-old orphan who heads his household of three younger siblings.  They had started attending Sengera congregation last year.  Last week they were totally out of food, and unable to contact us for help, sad to say, the nine-year-old boy died from starvation, he was buried Monday, January 25th.  Please pray for Thomas and his surviving siblings.  Thanks to your donations, we were able to assist the family with enough food to last them a while, and also pay their school fees.  They are much appreciative to you donors for your love and support.

That’s Thomas with the crutches and Nehemiah on the left.

Thomas is one of Nehemiah’s classmates, and as mentioned above, had begun attending Sabbath services last year, until tragedy struck one Sabbath morning.  Nehemiah had been teaching and preaching in the morning at their High School and many of the students were quite impressed at what they were learning from the Scriptures.  Even some of the teachers were listening in, and had commented that “Church of God” knows the Scriptures better than anyone.  Some of the students asked to attend services, but lived to far away to walk, and had no funds for motorbike taxi.  So we began paying their transportation each week.  One Sabbath morning the motorbike had an accident. One student was killed instantly; the driver and Thomas were seriously injured.  Thomas has been walking with crutches ever since.

I received the following letter from Kelvin today: (Kelvin is the 17-year-old orphan who heads his house with 5 young siblings.)

“Receive warm greetings from my siblings and I Papa Goff; hope you are all doing great with your lovely family.  It has being quite long since we were together here. In fact, let me take this lovely opportunity to thank you, the donors and the entire family of Kenya Hands of Hope for the great work you are on doing not only to me but to very many across Kenya.

Since we lost our parents, we were left with none to take good care of us. Food, clothing, Shelter, medication and education, all was in vain.  Thanks a lot for building us a beautiful home, fixing gutters and a tank for harvesting rain water, good double beds and beddings, good tables and seats, installing solar energy for lighting our house and the compound, God bless you for doing us this wonderful favor.  And all importantly I am also very thankful Nehemiah preached to me and he made me understand the day of our God, Saturday, for Sunday is the first day of a week.   We are now keeping the proper day.  Thanks a lot; I am also studying the verses you sent together with my 3 friends.  The Scriptures are so inspiring.

The sewing project idea is also very OK, thanks for buying me a sewing machine (my tool) and taking me to a sewing course. From this course, am on seeing good fruits.  Recently, the government started looking for young tailors to fix them in sewing shops. I thank God that some two guys and I got a sewing job.  I am now working as a tailor.  I thank you very much for funds Nehemiah gave me for buying sewing materials, through this materials, they enabled me take two of my siblings back to school, they are going on very well, thanks a lot.  We were living (actually dying) only a year ago.  But after constant prayers, God brought us together by finding Nehemiah’s lost wallet. He sure does work in mysterious ways.

(Let me cut in here and elaborate on what Kelvin is referring to.  It was around one year ago when Nehemiah was headed on a motorbike taxi to visit a widow who was living out in the bush.  The rain began coming down in blankets and the bike hit a stone on the road.  Both Nehemiah and the driver were thrown from the bike and landed in a raging river.  They struggled to keep from drowning and survived.  But their clothes were torn to shreds, and they were full of cuts and bruises and had to be hospitalized that night.  Nehemiah also lost his wallet.  But the next day he got a phone call from a man who said he had found the wallet and wanted to return it (which he did, totally intact.)  Funny thing, the man turned out to be 16-year-old Kelvin, who had been praying to God to keep him and his five young siblings from dying from starvation.  Times were so rough for them that they had gone to visit a friend who fed them that night.  The following morning Kelvin walked down to the river to bathe, and that is when he found Nehemiah’s wallet.  The place where their friend lived was not only quite a way from where Nehemiah lost it in the raging water, but was also beyond a waterfall.  Yes, this was answered prayer in its fullest sense.)

(Back to Kelvin’s letter.)

Nowadays I do sew good men suits, shirts and dresses, soon am going to sew 20 T-shirts and then print them (Kenya Hands of Hope), I will send them as a gift to my fellows in Sengera Camp.In this clothes making shop, I work for only four hours; the government is going to gives us certificates.  Due to I work for only four hours, from 6:30Am – 10:30 Am, the remaining time am idle.  I requested a friend here to help me find a shop where I can rent and put my sewing business, I thank God I am with my basic tool, sewing machine, thanks a lot Papa.  I will soon send you pictures of everything, praying all to be well for you and the donors.

Please pass this message to those who you support.  Whatever they get for a support from you, let them become creative and self-reliant for those in need to be reached too.

May the Lord God bless you Papa, Nehemiah and all the donors.

Blessings.
Kelvin.”

That’s James assisting this boy with his new sneakers.

This Mzee is also very thankful for the help you have given him, For the removal of his Jiggers, and the footwear.
