KHOFH

February 19, 2022

I am happy to inform you that thanks to your response to our plea for help; we are once again moving forward at the orphanage, and in assisting our impoverished brethren, including the remote widows and orphans.  They send their heartfelt thanks to all of you.

As the Apostle John tells us in (1 John 3:17) “But whoso hath this world’s good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?

Some of you donors are poor yourselves, yet you see your brother in need, and help.  Why? Because the Love of God does dwell within you, and in abundance.  Praise God for that.

And (Proverb 21:13) says: “Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard.”

There is a lot of good news here for all who are helping our impoverished brethren (whether rich or poor).  That Scripture says thanks to your Love and concern, you will not be amongst those who will be crying in the future.  And if you do cry, you will be heard.

Our Heavenly Father doesn’t change; He still blesses for obedience, and curses for disobedience.  And He still instructs us to choose life and live.
(Deuteronomy 30:19)

Now, concerning the update:

Kelvin and his young siblings send you their greetings and thanks.  His sewing business is beginning to prosper, and they have been harvesting some of the crops they grew.  They were able to harvest and sell some of the Napier grass, it’s for feeding cows.  The lives of those six orphans are now so much better.  God has answered their prayers, through the Love and assistance of you donors.

And they love those (old WWC) youth bible lesson we continue to send them.

Also, Thomas, Kevin and their five young siblings send you their greetings and thanks.  As you probably know, they were still in need of a toilet.  We were able to assist them to continue with that project.  Thanks to you donors, it’s now completely funded, and will be completed today or tomorrow.  They now will have a toilet and place to shower.

The toilet & shower is almost complete

The orphans living Sengera House also send you their greetings and thanks.  They are all doing well in school, and looking forward to the end of term which will be in April.  So they will all be home (including the ones who are in boarding schools) for upcoming Passover & Feast of Unleavened Bread.

Nehemiah usually does the weekly shopping on Sundays, he goes to Kisii Town.

Sack of potatoes in the Sengera House Storeroom

That sack cost $35.00 plus $3.00 transport via motorbike.  We bought it in the nearby village of Ogembo.  So total cost was $40.00.  We try our best to keep potatoes, and if possible rice, flour, oil and sugar in the store room.  A number of widows show up quite often looking for something to eat.  They usually arrive quite weak from hunger.  We give them something hot to eat and drink, and then a small care package from the store room.  But it’s a juggling act, you see we also have to be careful not to let our stock become depleted, because if we get a surprise visit from the authorities, and they find empty shelves, Haron could be arrested.  Food prices there also continue to increase.  But so far, our Creator (through you donors) continues to provide.  And most importantly the children are being fed lots of Good spiritual food.  We serve both “milk” & “meat”.

Some are not aware, but the “Horn of Africa” consisting of eight countries including Somalia, Ethiopia, Sudan, Uganda and Kenya, is under severe drought.  In Kenya alone, 1.4 million livestock died in the final part of last year as a result of drought.  Being peasant farmers, all of our brethren are affected by drought.  You donors have eased the suffering of many of our impoverished brethren, especially many widows and orphans.

Haron and Ibu have visited remote group in Trans Mara.  They brought them additional Bibles.  Haron also addressed that congregation, and gave the sermon, (Sabbath of 2-12-2022)

As you will see in some of the pictures, like most groups, there are many children in the congregations.  Just below 50% of Kenyan population are under 14 years of age.  Also in the pictures you will see many women in the Trans Mara congregation.  Many husbands travel far distances to find work to support their families.  But faith level is quite High amongst all the congregations.  As James says: “Hath not God chosen the poor of this world, rich in faith, and heirs of the Kingdom He had promised to those who love Him?” (James 2:5)

Our 3rd world country brethren sure are rich in faith.  They have so little material wealth, and they do suffer a lot, But they love the Word of God so much.  Show them a Scripture direct from the Bible, and they make change on the spot, including in their walk.  I guess we could say that they keep their High calling on the front burner of their lives.  But some need to be careful here, because it’s so easy for those who are rich with this world’s goods, to be distracted, to be too busy, too comfortable to even realize or take note that maybe their High calling has drifted to the back burner of their lives, and that burner doesn’t even have the “flame” turned on.  If that’s the case with any of us (us being the called of God) we better wake up now, before the “midnight cry” of (Matthew 25:6) sounds.  That cry is a lot closer than many seem to realize.  Let’s not be amongst those who will be taken by surprise at our Masters return.  We need to have our lives in order, we need to be “converted”, and we need to be “conquerors”.

Our Kenyan Brethren do a lot of singing, much of the Sabbath Service is singing.  And every song that is sung has much Biblical meaning, and sung with a lot of choreography.  I’m trying to include a video of them singing.  The song is about how Christians do not move neighbor’s boundary markers.  Yes, in their songs they learn the Scriptures, the wonderful ways of our Heavenly Father.

Your brother in Christ.
